There was protest in Ogbomoso Wednesday as Students of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology and other youths took to the streets to protest the killing a hotelier Olugbenga Owolabi and Rachael Opadele a student.
The duo were kidnapped on July 29 at Owolabi’s hotel by gunmen in the Abaa area of Ogbomoso. Opadele a student of LAUTECH was working in the hotel, following the lingering Nigerian university lecturers strike.
Though police has not confirmed the killings on Tuesday night, a family source disclosed that the N5m ransom demanded by the kidnappers was paid yet the gunmen shot the victims and the men who went to deliver the money.
“They killed them. They demanded ransom and we sent someone who promised to deliver it,”Daily Post quoted the family source
“We saw a motorcyclist who said he can go. He said that he will collect N5,000 and we paid.
“But, the kidnappers after collecting the money went ahead to kill them. Don’t mention my name because I don’t want anyone to be looking for me. We have reported the case at Igbon police station”.
