One hundred and fifty one wandering travelers from, Katsina, Jigawa and Kano States have been arrested by the Amotekun Security Network in Ondo State.
This is coming on the heels of reported intelligence gathering about the possible invasion of terrorists into the South Western States. The travelers including five women were stopped at about 6.30 am on Friday during a stop and search operation by men of the Security outfit.
The men and the women were travelling in a truck loaded with bags of rice and beans, which they used as cover. A search on their persons revealed various charms and combat drill photos.
“Upon interception, we asked for their destinations, some said Akure, while others said Osogbo in Osun State,” said Ondo State Amotekun commander, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye
“We are still profiling them, as none of them has an idea of where they are going, what they going to do or their mission.
“All they were able to tell us is that they entered the vehicle and came to Ondo State.
“This, however, is not a good sign, following the security warning in the South West States.
“While respecting their rights as Nigerians, yet, we are not sure of what they are here for, we still feel that while traveling, anyone should have a mission and destination at where he or she is going to.”
