Magistrate Court sitting in Damaturu Yobe State has sentence a Umar Alhaji Mustapha to 25 years imprisonment for raping and impregnating his 18-year-old daughter Fatima Mustapha. The presiding Magistrate, Mohammed Bilyaminu said in his judgement that the prosecution has proved beyond resonable doubt that Mr. Mustapha violated section 390 and 283 of the penal code by committing the incest act. Mr. Mustapha has 30 days to file an appeal.
During the trial the police established that the accused had sex with the daughter severally leading to her pregnancy.Fatima in her testimony said the father gave her N25,000 to terminate the pregnancy, but she refused, however, the child died during delivery.
