Veteran music producer and multi-instrumentalist, Nelson Brown is worried that the no shows made by singer Kizz Daniels in scheduled musical performances will harm Nigerian music and musicians abroad.
Reports from Tanzania said the ‘Buga’ crooner dumped a show where he was booked to perform, causing upsets and damages to the show promoter after enraged music fans went on a rampage. The artist who was paid $60,000 appearance fee, was arrested last Sunday by Tanzania Police, but was released after the Nigerian government intervened.
“He was not like that before, he is a humble kid that I know,” said Mr. Brown
“ I don’t know what has come over these young talents coming up, things like this will tarnish the image of Nigerian music.
“His song ‘Buga’ is a big hit in Africa at the moment. If you have a big song like that and you are not living up to the expectations of fans and promoters, It would make it look as if Nigerians artists are swollen headed when they they make it big and you cannot trust them anymore and that shouldn’t be happening to Nigerian music. We are doing well around the world.
“However, lets not jump into conclusion until we hear from him what happened. But what I would add is that up and coming artists must be humble and not allow fame to get into their heads.”
The show promoter, Stephen Uwa who was speaking on Daddy Freeze’s show, confirmed that Kizz Daniel who put up a similar attitude in the USA turned his back on the show.
“I went down on my knees begging him to go on stage, but he insisted that he couldn’t climb without his gold chains even as he was wearing a gold chain in his neck.
“He said the airline did not bring his bag containing his gold chains.
“I begged him for five hours making him to know he was damaging my company which is still growing. PaulO the guy I booked him from even called from America pleading with him, but he wouldn’t budge.”
