There was power cut across the country this morning, as the National Union of Electricity Employees downed their tools.

Members of the NUEE had warned the nation of the impending doom on Tuesday after the government failed to meet their demands. However, this afternoon the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige is meeting with the workers with a view of reaching a compromise so that the striker could nip in the bud.

Reports from Lagos, Ogun, Kano, Katsina, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kebbi, Sokoto, Zamfara, Abuja and other States revealed that there is widespread power outage and unless there is something concrete from the meeting between the workers and Abuja, the nation will remain in darkness as the workers are determined to go the whole hog.

However, Nigerians are indifferent to the strike because to power consumers, the nation had for most of this year suffered numerous long periods of power cuts and the strike by the NUEE workers makes it meaningless.
