The timely intervention of the Osun Police Command saved the Osun State governor’s wife Mrs. Kafayat Oyetola from harm after she and her convoy came under attack at Owode-Ede area of the State.
The Osun first lady’s convey, at about 8.30pm on Friday, had ran into traffic jam caused by a broken down trailer and according to eyewitness account the security men on the convey started beating up the trailer driver and the hoodlum seized on the opportunity to attack the convoy. Leaving some security personale suffering various injuries.
Osun Police command PRO Yemisi Opalola confirmed the attack adding that five persons were arrested on the spot.
“Information was received that at Owode, Ede Market Expressway, some hoodlums were attacking the convoy of the First Lady. DPO ‘A’ Division Ede promptly mobilised and led the detectives to the scene, where they met CSP Dauda Ismail, the CSO to His Excellency (Adegboyega Oyetola), the executive governor of Osun State.
“He stated that one Omolola Opeyemi ‘M’ of Ijebu Ode, a driver of one truck without a reg number, blocked the movement of the First Lady, as a result of the traffic blockage.
“The driver was wounded on his forehead while some hoodlums took advantage of that and started stoning vehicles in the convoy that got one DSS personnel wounded. However, five suspects were arrested at the scene.”
