England international Raheem Sterling recently revealed his bitterness at leaving Manchester City to join Chelsea, but Pep Guardiola has defended the club’s decision of Sterling, Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko this summer.

Jesus has become an instant hit at Arsenal, Zinchenko has also made an impact at the Emirates Stadium, while Sterling is still trying to find his feet at Chelsea.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Guardiola said: “If you force one person to stay when he doesn’t want to stay, how can you get the best from him? It’s impossible. I wouldn’t want to move anyone on now. I love this squad I have.”

Speaking about his own future with the club as his current contract expires next year he said: “In the World Cup, after the World Cup, we will talk.”

Pep Guardiola likens playing every three days and having to prepare for them games to spaghetti. “Eating something you love every day is great, but sometimes you want your palette to taste something different.”
