Anthony Joshua must now think of another career after he lost his heavyweight world title rematch against Oleksandr Usyk in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Though Joshua made so much improvement from his last fight, Usyk proved too strong as he took everything Joshua had to throw at him and as from the sixth round the Ukrainian took control as Joshua tried in vain to land a knock punch with puffy eyes, he managed to go the distance taking the fight to a split decision in favor of Usyk.
The WBA (Super), IBF, WBO and IBO world titles remain in Usyk’s hands. He remains unbeaten, perhaps Tyson Fury would be interested in having a go at unifying the belts, he holds the WBC tit
“This guy to beat me tonight, maybe I could have done better, but it shows the level of hard work I put in so please give him a round of applause as our heavyweight champion of the world,” Joshua said after the bout.
He was taken to the hospital for a supected broken eye socket.
Judges scorecard: 115-113 Joshua, 115-113 Usyk and finally 116-112 Usyk
