Preparations are in top gear for the Princess Mabel Madojiemu Athletics Championships billed for September 29-30 at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City.
Over 30 schools from all over Edo State have registered and more are still being expected before the closing date for the registration. According to Edo State athletics head coach Mutiu Oluwa, over 500 U-15 athletes will vie for honors in the championships meant to discover grassroots talents.
‘ Everything is on course, we are expecting over 500 kids to participate and from the look of things they are excitedly looking forward to the competition,” coach Oluwa
” We are doing everything we can to have a hitch free competition and ensure that only athletes under the age limited participate and we are looking at making every participant happy at the end end of the championships.
“It is not just the the first three that would be getting prices, all others who participate will go home with a gift and T-shirts.”
The championships made its debut in 2019, and it is empowered by the Princess Mabel Madojiemu Athletics Foundation.
