Kelechi Iheanacho scored a first minute goal, but Brighton turned the tide against Leicester City with a 5-2 thrashing, which has left the Foxes stranded at the bottom of the English Premier League table.
Iheanacho’s strike after 51 seconds gave Leicester confidence it was going to be their first win of the season, but they caved in just after eight minutes. Leicester defender Luke Thomas deflected a header from Solly March into his own net.
Brighton went ahead in the 15th minute, capitalising on a loose pass from James Maddison with Moises Caicedo scoring after being set up by Enock Mwepu.
But in a frantic first half, Leicester scored again after 32 minutes. Youri Tielemans, deep inside his own half, played a ball over the top of the Brighton defence, Daka held off Lewis Dunk’s challenge and slotted the ball past Robert Sanchez for 2-2.
From then it seems Leicester gave up the fight. Leandro Trossard scored Brighton’s third from Pascal Gross’ pass, with Trossard then winning a penalty, which Mac Allister converted for the fourth.
Fittingly, the last say went to Argentina midfielder Mac Allister who curled in an excellent 25-yard free-kick in injury time for his second goal and Brighton’s fifth.
Former United midfielder Roy Keane said of the game: “Leicester players, a disgraceful performance in the second half.
“They gave up the fight, gave some bad goals away, no commitment, no desire. Brendan is in trouble with that performance in the second half. The Leicester players… nowhere near good enough they gave up the fight, shocking.”
