After picking a ticket to the Women’s African Champions League, Bayelsa United will toughen up with the right motivations, to win all their games at the tournament bill to start October 30, in Morocco.
Bayelsa commissioner for sports, Hon. Daniel Igali hinted that the team would not be lacking in any area as they prepare for the continental contest.
” Though we have a solid team there is going to be addictions to make the Queens win it all.
“Right now we are soon going into the league and we also have the Aiteo cup finals. These are good preparation grounds for the team. In terms of motivation, no club in Nigeria comes close to what we do for the Bayelsa Oueens.
“In the local league, in addition to their winning bonuses which I am told are about the best in the league, we also give the team N1m for each win and an additional N550,000 naira per goal scored.
” We will continue to tow the path we have we have followed so far,” said Igali a former world and Olympic wrestling champion.
The draws for the champions league would be held on Friday with the Bayelsea Queens hoping for a favourable grouping. They qualified after beating Ghana’s Ampem Darkoa Ladies 3-0 in the West Africa qualifiers last Saturday.
Some of the teams that have qualified so far include Morocco’s AS FAR, Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa who are defending champions, Egypt’s Wadi Degla, Zambia’s Green Buffaloes, Determine Girls of Liberia and Tanzanian side Simba Queens will also be making their first appearance.
