There was pandemonium when four unidentified gunmen stormed a meeting of The Labour Party supporters in the Awgu Community of Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State.
According to the Labour Party chairman for the Awgu area, Igwebuike Ikechukwu the men came into the venue and started shooting sporadically and members fled in different directions. However, no life was lost but some of the supporters sustained varying degrees of injuries.
“They just stormed the venue on three motorcycles and started firing.
“We believe strongly that this is the handiwork of the opposition party,” Ikechukwu said.
“The windshield of one of our members’ vehicles was shattered.”
This is the second attack on the Labour Party supporters in Enugu. Last week Wednesday, gunmen also on motorbikes accosted some party men and women in Nenwe, a community in Aninri Local Government Area.
