Senator Ike Ekweremadu has spent 82 days in a United Kingdom detention all for the sake of giving his daughter Sonia a new lease of life.
The Senator and his wife were arrested by the Metropolitan Police on the charges of organ harvesting crime in June on their arrival in London with a boy who was meant to donate one his kidneys to Sonia who needed to transplant to have a chance of living normal life after many years of suffering from kidney failure.
With the Senator still behind bars and unable to function, Sonia has called on kind spirited members of the public to come to her aid. Posting on instagram page @soniaekw, she said “I, Sonia Ekweremadu, hereby appeal to the general public to come to my aid and save my life. I was diagnosed with rare kidney disease, FSGS Nephrotic Syndrome.
“My family has battled to save my life and has taken me to various hospitals but the illness persisted and kept degenerating. I am alive today by the special grace of God. I am presently in London, UK, receiving five hours of dialysis 3-4 times a week. This is at the expense of my family as I am not qualified for the NHS due to my immigration status.
“The last three years have been extremely challenging. The charges being faced by my parents in London presently are directly connected to my illness and have complicated matters for me and my family.
