A 31-year-old biker Adebayo Ojo, will spend the rest of his life in prison after an Ado-Ekiti High Court found him guilty of defiling a nine- year-old girl.
The presiding judge Justice Olalekan Olatawuru said in his judgement that the prosecution has proved beyond every reasonable doubt that the accused committed the crime even as the victim under cross examination identified the suspect.
”Consequently thereupon, the defendant is found guilty as charged. He is hereby sentenced to life imprisonment,” the judge held.
The victim who narrated her ordeal before the court said: “I am a primary three pupil, I live with my grandmother, oga I.D Idowu (the defendant) is my older sister’s neighbour.
“On that day, he called me to get something for my grandmother when I was fetching water. When I got there, I stood by the door, he asked me to enter but I refused, he forced me into his room and covered my mouth with his hand.”
Meanwhile in Lagos, An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court Wednesday remanded a 16-year-old boy accused of defiling a 4-year-old girl.
The police prosecuting counsel, DSP Kehinde Ajayi, told the Court that the defendant committed the offence on August, 2022 at Wole Oladokun Street, Ojo Meiran, Lagos State. She said the defendant inserted his fingers into the virgina of the toddler who is the daughter of his neighbor.
The offence, she said, contravened the provisions of Section 27 and punishable under section 210(8) of the child right law of Lagos State, 2015
Magistrate Ejiro Kubeinje, ordered that the teenager be detained at the Oregun Juvenile Corrective Home, Ikeja, Lagos, while the police consider the next action to take on the case.
