The dispute between the Sports Ministry and the Nigeria Football Federation over the legitimacy of the League Management Company took a new twist as policemen have besieged the offices of LMC in Abuja.
The LMC is the parent company that organises and manages the Nigeria Professional Football League, but according to the Sports Ministry acting on a directive from the Federal government asked the NFF to dismantle the LMC and constitute a new body that will oversee the Nigerian football league.
A statement last Friday signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Sports Ministry, Abubakar Ismaila said the LMC is not recognised by any Nigerian law and there it was not legitimately functioning.
However, the NFF and the LMC hierarchy countered that the league company was duly registered with the Nigerian Corporate Affairs Commision in Abuja.
