A Magistrates’ Court in Ikeja has been told how a 34- year- old woman, Folake Adeleye beat up her husband and also the policeman who was sent to arrest her in the Agege area of Lagos.
Mrs. Adeleye, a trader was Thursday charged with assaulting a policeman on duty at the Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
The Prosecuting lawyer Funmilayo Akinleye, narrated that the defendant’s husband had gone to the police station to report his wife over domestic violence and constable , Ridwan Lasaki, who was sent to arrest the woman was also beaten up performing his lawful duty.
“On getting to the house, the defendant resisted arrest, beat up the policeman and bit his hand,” Counsel Akinleye added .
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge. She was granted bail with the sum of N20,00 and two sureties by the presiding Magistrate, Mrs O. O Fajana.
