Super Eagles assistant coach Finidi George failed to impress on his nephew Malcom Ebiowei to join the national team ahead of their friendly against Algeria.
Ebiowei, has been a revelation at Crystal Palace and has been invited to the England U-20 team that would play friendlies against Chile, Morocco and Australia in their preparations for the 2023 FIFA U20 World Cup.
Ebiowei was recommended to Super Eagles coach by Nigeria Football Federation technical director Austin Eguavoen and the 19-year-old was on the plans of the Eagles coach for the game against Algeria this month. But he opted to represent England U-20 as advised by his father.
Ebiowei was invited to the Nigeria U-17 camp in 2019, but he did not make the final cut of players for the U-17 players for the 2019 u-17 World Cup.
Ebiowei, who has represented both England and the Netherlands at Under-16s level, made his Premier League debut in August, coming on as a late substitute against Arsenal.
