Super Eagles coach Jose Poseiro Saturday released the list of players that would tackle the Desert Foxes September 27 in Oran, Algeria.
The international friendly would see the return of goalkeeper Maduka Okoye who has been absent from the team’s matches since the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon. Okoye had excused himself from the team on medical grounds, but fans believe that it was because of his gaffe in the round of 16 game against Tunisia. Also returning are Terem Moffi and Kevin Akpoguma who did not make the cut for the AFCON or the World Cup qualifiers.
Nigeria Football Federation director of communication Ademola Olajire said: ” Among players called up to take on the former two-time African champions, Algeria, are goalkeepers Francis Uzoho and Maduka Okoye; defenders Kenneth Omeruo, Chidozie Awaziem and Calvin Bassey.
“Others are midfielders Wilfred Ndidi and Alex Iwobi, and forwards Moses Simon, Samuel Chukwueze, Taiwo Awoniyi and Cyriel Dessers.
“Only Richard Onyedika, of Belgian top team, Club Brugge, is a new face in the group. Germany-based defender Kevin Akpoguma also returns to the fold,’’ Olajire said.
