Nigeria’s sprint hurdles sensation Tobi Amusan has had the 12.12seconds world record she set at the World Championships in Oregon, USA ratified by the World Athletics.
Amusan, who paid her dues right from her junior days, waited for the right moment to announce to the world, she was ready to be a legend in the discipline. She did the 12.12 seconds in the semi-final of the 100m hurdles at Oregon WC and in the final she did a wind assisted 12.06 seconds leaving the athletics world breathless for some seconds.
Ahead of next season’s challenges she has spoken of her desire to be the first woman to break the 12seconds barrier in the 100m hurdles. It would be a spectacle to behold, if Amusan can pull it off.
The WA also ratified other records that were broken in Oregon. They include Sydney Mclaughlin and Mondo Duplantis.
“The world records set by Tobi Amusan, Mondo Duplantis, and Sydney McLaughlin at the World Athletics Championships Oregon22 have been ratified.
“Amusan’s 12.12 in the women’s 100m hurdles semi finals, Duplantis’s 6.21m in the men’s pole vault final and McLaughlin’s 50.68 in the women’s 400m hurdles final are all now officially in the record books, as is the world U20 mark of 9.94 set by Letsile Tebogo in the men’s 100m heats,’ said the WA in a statement.
