Super Falcons coach, Randy Waldrum has called up 22 players, including Asisat Oshoala and Rasheedat Ajibade for next month’s international friendly against Japan’s senior women national team Nadeshiko, in Kobe. He has left out team captain, Onome Ebi, who has been playing for the senior national team since 2003. The team is dominated by usual regulars, but four members of the U20 girls that got to the last eight of the U20 FIFA women World Cup hosted by Costa Rica in August were welcomed.
The team first choice goalkeeper is Chiamaka Nnadozie, Defenders are Ashleigh Plumptre and Osinachi Ohale, midfields are Regina Otu, Halimatu Ayinde and Ngozi Okobi-Okeoghene and forwards Uchena Kanu, Gift Monday, Vivian Ikechukwu and Toni Payne.
This match serves as continuation of preparation for the Super Falcons ahead of the next year’s FIFA Women World Cup Finals in Australia and New Zealand, and it comes just after the two-match tour of the United States of America in which they lost 0:4 and 1:2 to the U.S Women National Team.
