The All Progressives Congress presidential candidate for next year’s election Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been issued a notice of zero cooperation in his campaign by some APC governors.
The bone of contention was that the concerned governors had their nominations into the presidential campaign council missing from the 422 member list released by the party’s campaign council.
Premium Times quoted Party sources as saying that the governments have made their feelings known to the Party Chairman Abudullahi Adamu and Atiku Bagudu the Kebbi State governor who is chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum.
“Cross River Governor Ben Ayade vowed not to participate in campaigning for the presidential candidate since the party leaders have proven to know more than him in his state,” said the Party source
“The governor of Kwara, Abdulrahman Abdulrazak, is complaining that he submitted five names but he had seen only one appearance on the list,” said an insider who asked not to be named because he is not permitted to speak to journalists on this matter.
“The governor said Kwara has seven persons on the list and all of them are from the same local government.”
“If the list is authentic, it means that the party and the candidate are not serious about the campaign.
“We believe that at the state level, electoral influence resides with the governors and If the governors nominated people to the campaign council and they were ignored, it means there is danger.”
