Olivier Giroud earned criticism from France fans after he was spotted partying with Milan teammate Simon Kjaer in the wake of a Nations League defeat to Denmark. The striker was one of several French players who went out on the town in Copenhagen with their Danish opponents following the 2-0 defeat. According to Danish site BT, Giroud, Raphael Varane and another unnamed France player were seen at the Museo nightclub in the company of Kjaer. One could say Giroud was entitled to some time off, considering he has started each of his last nine games between club and international level. He was on target in the win over Austria that prevented France’s relegation from Nations League A and will turn 36 on Friday, so this was his opportunity to celebrate the upcoming birthday.
Nonetheless, France fans were disappointed considering the dismal performances from their team in the Nations League, culminating in that 2-0 loss in Copenhagen.
