Athletics Federation of Nigeria has conducted a dope hearing for 16-year old Fatimah Abdulaziz who was allegedly doped by her coach.
Abdulaziz, tested positive to prohibited substances at the National Youth Games in Ilorin, Kwara State in 2021 and has been under provincial suspension even as the AFN did not conduct any hearing for her.
“The panel sat today and heard the case,” said AFN medical and doping committee chairman Prof. Ken Anugweje.
“The panel has not concluded the case is still ongoing. That is all the information we have for now.”
Her coach Hammed Muritala admitted injecting the athlete, but insisted that it was not his intention to dope the athlete.
At the hearing yesterday, Abdulaziz maintained that it was her coach who injected her, and she did not know that she was being doped.
Abdulazeez representing Kwara won the 400m race at the Youth Games. She clocked 55.14s. She was second in the 200m.
