Nigerian-born Destiny Udogie has ruled out playing for the Super Eagles in the future saying his wish was to play for the Azzuris.
Udogie,19, was born in Italy to Nigerian parents and has already played for the Italian junior side. He was signed by Tottenham in the summer but stayed with Udinese on loan, where he’s continuing to develop and show his strengths.
“I was born here and my biggest dream now is to play for the senior Italian national team,” he told La Repubblica.
I will be 22 when the European Championship takes place in Germany and 24 in the year of the World Cup in America.”
He said he was looking forward to playing in England and he is waiting for Antonio Conte’s call.
“Serie A helps you grow. The months I have left here on loan in Udine will be important to improve further. Mentally I’m here now. To say, I still haven’t heard from Conte.
“The Premier League doesn’t scare me anyway. The game is fantastic and I’ve always spoken English at home with my parents who were born in Nigeria.
Since his initial arrival at Udinese, Udogie has made 44 appearances across all competitions for the club, scoring seven goals and providing three assists.
