Nigeria’s U-17 national women team, the Flamingos will leave Istanbul, Turkey tonight for New Delhi, India for the FIFA U-17 Women World Cup.
The Flamingos had a 10- day camping in Turkey and played two friendly games against Galatasaray (won 3-1) and Fenerbahce (3-1).
Nigeria didn’t qualify for the last edition and has not gone past the quarterfinal stage on five occasions but the head coach, Bankole Olowookere revealed that they are putting all their effort to do better than previous editions and will surely have a glorious outing this time around in India.
Nigeria will represent Africa along with the debutante duo of Tanzania and Morocco.
The FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup will kick off on October 11 and the Flamingos will play Germany in their opening fixture on Tuesday in Goa.
