Chelsea followed up on their Champions League win over AC Milan by beating Wolves 3-0 in Saturday’s Premier League game at the Stamford Bridge.
Kai Havertz’s opener and stunning individual efforts from Christian Pulisic and Armando Broja, a debut strike for the 21-year-old, saw the Blues move into the top four.
“Credit to Wolves they came out and gave us more of a test in the second half, we saw that period out and we managed to score a nice goal. Nice at the end for Armando [Broja] to score,” said Chelsea coach Graham Potter.
“We want to score more than one, we were playing so well and if you have that performance level the goals will come. Just a case of keeping that going and keeping the performance good. The effort was fantastic and they’ve worked hard in training this week.”
But Diego Costa was a topic of discussion after the match. The former Chelsea star was given a rousing welcome by the home fans after making a Premier League start since 2017 for Wolves. And when he was substituted, Costa walked around the Stamford Bridge pitch acknowledging cheers from the fans.
But former Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur manager Sherwood questioned Costa’s decision. “Brilliant from him though because they are going to make the change,” he said on Sky Sports. “He goes to the furthest possible area away from the dug out and he walks around the whole of the pitch, getting a standing ovation as he goes.
