Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp has lamented the lost of winger Luis Diaz who has been ruled out until 2023.
Scans revelaed that Diaz damaged his knee ligament in the Reds 3-2 defeat to Arsenal in Sunday’s Premier League game. Diaz was invloved in a clash with Arseanl midfielder Thomas Partey and had to be replaced by Roberto Firmino.
Klopp said: “Lucho we had to change before [half-time]. [It’s] something with the knee, not good.”
“[He] twisted the ankle, not good. Trent never, in seven years, went off if he could have played on. He was in too much pain, it started swelling immediately, so we will have to see.”
Diaz was seen leaving the Emirates Stadium on crutches with his knee strapped up, the 25-year-old seemingly ruled out of action for the foreseeable future.
His injury is a huge blow also to Colombia. He might not be fit on time for the 2022 World Cup starting November 20 in Qatar.
