Former world heavyweight boxing champion Deontay Wilder is proposing that he and Anthony Joshua fight somewhere in Africa.
Wilder lost his WBC title to Tyson Fury, while Joshua lost his WBA, IBF and WBO titles to Oleksandr Usyk in August. Wilder who is 36 is hoping to return to the ring, believes that Joshua still has much to offer in boxing and therefore, he is wishing they both clash in the ring.
“I would love to do that fight in Africa,” he told BBC Sport.
“It’s still the number one fight in the world for everyone. Everywhere I go, people always talk about me versus Joshua.”
“We both have roots from there,” Wilder explained.
“I think it would be an amazing place to have it, to go back home. To go back to the motherland. A continent full of our people. I can just see that being an amazing fight, win, lose or draw.
“I think we’ll get the respect and love from all the people over there.”
Joshua was born in the UK to Nigerian parents, while Wilder had claimed that he has his roots in Edo State.
