Victor Osimhen killed off an Ajax fight back with his 89th minute tap in to bring the scores to 4-2 and sending Napoli to the knock out stages of the UEFA Champions League.
It was Osimhen’s first goal in the Champions League this season. He had missed two games of the group stage due to injury.
Napoli took an early lead at the Diego Maradona Stadium through Hirving Lozano who sent a looping header into the far corner, Giacomo Raspadori thumped a left-footed drive into the roof of the net.
Ajax’s Davy Klaasen pulled one back at break via Calvin Bassey’s assist. Napoli extend their with a VAR handball penalty taken Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. Ajax then had a penalty of their own. It was by former Tottenham forward Steven Bergwijn.
The goals gave Ajax hope that they can return with a point, but Osimhen forced an error from Daley Blind, which presented him an opportunity to have a last say in the game.
