Anambra State governor Chukwuma Soludo has appointed former Athletics Federation of Nigeria board member, Patrick Onyedum Estate as chairman of Anambra Sports Development Commission.
And according to coaches who had worked with Onyedum Estate , governor Soludo has found a the right solution to the sports problems facing Anambra State. They expect that the former track and field athlete has all it takes to make Anambra sports return to reckoning in the national scheme of things.
“It’s a big plus for Anambra sports and we know Onyedum Estate antecedents in sports and we are backing him to do great things. With him we can confidently say Anambra sports is back, ” said veteran coach Johnny Igboka
“On his own he had sponsored grassroots development programmes before and we expected that his focus will be on discovering and grooming sports men and women in all diciplines in the state.
“There so many talents here in Anambra especially in athletics, we sincely hope that, they would be brought to national limelight with Onyedum Estate in the helms.”
Also speaking was Olu Sule a contemporary of Onyedum Estate when he was an athlete.
“It’s the best thing any governor could have done for Anambra sports, he is the right fit and and we expect that good things would happen there in Anambra.”
