Alex Iwobi continues to enjoy an excellent season at Everton as he provided two assists in their 3-0 win over Crystal Palace in Saturday’s Premier League game.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Anthony Gordon and Dwight McNeil scored to give Everton a needed win according to Coach Frank Lampard whoi hailed Iwobi is one of the “best midfielders in the Premier League.”
As well as grabbing two assists for the Toffees, Iwobi enjoyed a pass accuracy of 87 per cent, having 53 touches of the ball and winning 100 per cent of the tackles he attempted against the Eagles.
The two assists achieved by the former Arsenal man puts him up to five for the season so far.
That puts him joint-second in the Premier League this season, with only Manchester City’s midfield maestro Kevin De Bruyne ahead of him.
Everton’s third goal was one of the best you’ll see in the English top flight this term.
Picking up the ball on the left wing, £20million summer signing McNeil bypassed four Palace defenders before playing a lovely one-two with Iwobi. The former Arsenal man received the ball in the box, tracked his teammates’ continued run into the box, and found McNeil again with a crafty backheel, as the winger put the ball in the net.
Speaking to talkSPORT, Lampard said: “He is one of the best midfield players in the league, in my opinion, in terms of being a six or an eight.
“He was a six earlier in the season and was really good for us and has moved to an eight, so slightly more advanced for us, and he’s been great.
“His development has been great. It’s a funny one, because there’s been a perception about Alex since I came in, but it’s all his work.
“All I’ve done is support him and try to adapt the position slightly and the rest is him.”
