Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi said he would tackle insecurity like any responsible commander in chief should do, if he becomes President of Nigeria.
Obi, who was responding to questions on Arise TV on Monday morning, said security was important and a President must be decisive in dealing with it.
“I will be in charge, I will be the commander in chief and I have said in security, we will be responsive and responsible.
“That means, whatever happens, we will deal with it decisively and somebody has to be responsible. If you’re not doing it, you are out, we are not going to wait.
“My first responsibility in this country is to secure lives and property; it is the most critical thing because unless you do it, nobody will invest. The farmers can’t go to farm so there’s no food production, there’s nothing that will happen without security.”
Obi said he wouldn’t reveal his security plans.
“Even with a gun on my head, I can’t give you details of what I’m going to do in the issue of insecurity but I’m going to be commander-in-chief, I will deal with it decisively. I can’t tell you how I am going to deal with it because if I tell you, then it won’t work.”
