Napoli top striker Victor Osimhen, said he wants to repay the confidence coach Luciano Spalletti have on him with more goals.
The Super Eagles striker got his first Serie A hat-trick as Napoli thrashed Sassuolo 4-0, to maintain their unbeaten run in 13 games across all competitions. It is the first time since 2008 a Napoli player is scoring a hat-trick in Serie A. Osimhen is now joint top scorer with Bologna Mark Arnutovic on seven goals in Serie A so far.
“Congratulations to the team, I am happy to contribute to this win. Of course it is good to have as many goals as this, I want to keep the momentum going,” Osimhen told DAZN.
“This season the coach has given me as much confidence as I can get. I am really happy to rely on him giving me the maximum confidence. I have just returned from five weeks out, which is not easy, and it is important to get really integrated with the team.”
Osimhen revealed that the goals are dedicated to his daughter.
“That signal was for my daughter. Every moment I score or do something good, I do it for her. She is my life now and I am happy to dedicate everything to her.”
Meanwhile coach Spalletti stated that his team need to get result from the big teams as they prepare to face Atalanta next week.
“That is probably the most difficult match so far, and if we get a result there it will be even more important, because so few emerge from there with full points. Against the qualities of that team, it is really difficult.”
