The People’s Democratic Party has filed a suit asking a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, to disqualify all the candidates of the All Progressives Congress for the 2023 general elections.
The PDP also prayed for the removal of the APC National Working Committee led by Abdullahi Adamu based on illegality in the process that produced the party’s national officers and candidates. The suit was fild by Ayo Kamaldeen Ajibade, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria on behalf of the PDP.
In the suit the PDP hinged its argument on the judgment of the Federal High Court delivered on September 30, 2022, which declared as illegal, unlawful and unconstitutional, all actions and activities of Governor Mai Mala Buni led Chairmanship of the Extraordinary Convention Committee of the APC.
In the fresh suit, the PDP is seeking an order of court disqualifying all candidates produced by APC for the 2023 general elections from the election, having been allegedly produced in clear breach of the 1999 Constitution and Electoral Act 2022.
Meanwhile, the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice John Tsoho has assigned the suit, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1864/2022 to Justice Inyang Ekwo for determination.
Justice Ekwo has fixed November 22, for mentioning of the suit with an order that all the 53 persons listed by PDP in the suit as defendants be served with hearing notices in their respective locations.
