The Labour Party in Edo State has accused the Edo State government of bad faith by blocking it from securing suitable campaign venue for Peter Obi’s rally.
Mr. Obi is scheduled to make a campaign stop in Benin City on Friday, but according to a statement signed by the Edo Labour Party PRO Comrade Sam Oroupa, the party could not get the ideal venue for the campaign rally and they have settled for the Baptist Convention ground TV road Benin City to welcome Obi.
“Edo State Labour Party wishes to announce to all party faithfuls. Support groups, members of the Obedient family and the general public that the venue for the visit of our principal, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party H.E Peter Gregory Obi is now the Baptist Convention Ground, Oliha quarters, TV Road Benin City,” said the statement
“This is the last of the several efforts made by the party to access suitable venues under the direct and indirect control of the government but where all denied. The only option now left for the party is the Baptist Convention Ground.
“This is a clear indication that the Labour Party is now a threat and the only party to beat in the state and Nigeria at large. As a party therefore, we want to use this medium to appeal to our teaming supporters not to be deterred and discouraged as we are already taking over.”
“We want to also urge you to disregard the rumors making the rounds that our principal, the presidential candidate of our great party Mr Peter Gregory Obi is no longer coming or that the date and time has been changed. These are lies fabricated by the opposition to distract the Obidient followers.Peter Obi is coming live and direct to Edo state where he will make brief stop over in the three senatorial districts to terminate in Benin City.”
