Olympian Emmanuel Oghenejobo Peters after day one of the National Sports Festival said the facilities and hostel accommodation on ground were top notch. Peters, who was speaking at the venue of the taekwondo event at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, said Delta 2022 in terms of facilities was one of the best in recent times. “We’ve been going to sports festivals for a long time now. “I can tell you that this is one of the best arrangements in terms of facilities and accommodation for athletes so far. I’m saying this because I’m from Delta, it is based on what I have observed. “Look at the hostels provided for the athletes, it is the first of its kind. There is light, unlike some festivals where athletes are kept in damp and dark accommodations,” said Peters, a pioneer of taekwondo in Nigeria and global sports.
He was among the first set of taekwondo players that introduced the sport into the Olympics in 1992. He won a demonstration silver medal for Nigeria at the event and has improved himself to be one of the highly rated taekwondo technical officials in the world.
