Houston police said they are holding a man who is suspected to have fired a gun that killed rapper Takeoff on Nov 1 2022 at age of 28. Takeoff who is from the Migos group died at the scene after being struck by the bullet as he stood playing dice with friends in an alley. According to Houston Police Chief Troy Finner a man Patrick Xavier Clark, 33, who was arrested east of Houston on Thursday night, is in custody. Another man allegedly connected to the crime, Cameron Joshua, 22, was arrested last month and charged with unlawful carrying of a weapon. “We lost a good man,” Finner said during a press conference. “I didn’t have the pleasure of knowing him but everyone, the hundreds of people I’ve talked to, talked about what a great individual he was.” For his part, Michael Burrow, of the Houston Police Department’s homicide division, reported that despite having arrested the person responsible, the investigation into the case remains open, as it is known that Takeoff was an “innocent bystander.” “The event was a private party, there was a lucrative dice game that took place at the event, there was an argument that occurred afterward outside the bowling alley, which led to the shooting,” Burrow said. The perpetrator in the shooting was not involved in the dice game or the argument and was not armed, Burrow said.
