Cristiano Ronaldo had denied reaching an agreement with Saudi side Al Nassar and as he continues to ride high with Portugal at the World Cup, he is more concerned with making the starting line up.
Ronaldo is a free agent after parting ways with Manchester United and has been linked with a move to that Saudi side that has reportedly offered a $200m a year deal. It was reported that he is ready to sign the contract and move on with his club career.
‘No, that’s not true – not true,’ he told reporters after Portugal’s 6-1 win over Switzerland.
Al-Nassr are one of the most successful clubs in Saudi Arabia, having been crowned winners of the country’s top flight nine times, with their most recent triumph coming in 2019.
Meanwhile teammate Bruno Fernandez has said that Ronaldo has every right to be angry playing a sub role in the tournament.
“Do you think anyone likes to be on the bench?” Fernandes said to reporters after being quizzed about Ronaldo. “Jose Sa? He hasn’t played one minute. He knows that he’s the third goalkeeper.
“Probably he’s not happy to be on the bench and do you think Cristiano will be happy? If the manager in the next game puts me on the bench I will be angry with him.”
