Super Eagles defender, William Troost-Ekong has joined Serie A club, Salernitana on loan deal. Troost-Ekong previously played for Udinese, before moving to England to sign for Watford in 2020. “US Salernitana 1919 communicates that it has reached an agreement with Watford FC for the temporary transfer with the right to buy the defender born in ’93 William Troost-Ekong,” the club announced through a statement in their official website on Tuesday.
Watford would be paid a loan fee for the Super Eagles captain and there’s a clause for a further fee should Salernitana retain their topflight status at the end of the 2022-2023 season. Troost-Ekong who will be wearing the number 15 jersey, is excited to return to Italy to enjoy top flight football, he could be in the Salernitana squad when they entertain Juventus on February 7. Salernitana are placed 16 on the Serie A log, they lost at home last weekend to Victor Osimhen’s Napoli.
