Relegation threatened Everton has tied up a contract with former Burnley coach Sean Dyche, to take over from Frank Lampard. The former Chelsea midfielder and coach was sacked on Monday after losing to West Ham United, a result which left Everton at the bottom of the English Premier League table. Lampard, enjoying the good form of Alex Iwobi, survived relegation last season, but the club’s struggles continued this season. Former Leeds United manager Marco Bielsa was interviewed for the job, but Everton picked Dyche to take over from Lampard. Dyche was sacked by Burnley in April 2022, before the club failed to stay in the Premier League.
The 51-year-old was manager of Burnley for a decade, guiding the team into the Premier League from 2012 to 2022. He also took the club into Europe for the first time in 51 years, after finishing seventh in the league in 2018.
