Heavily armed policemen Tuesday prevented the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his running mate Kassim Shettima from campaigning at the New Bussa Stadium in Niger State. According to the Nation’s reports the gates of the Stadium, which was already decorated for the event, were locked with policemen stopping APC members from gaining entrance. Speaking on the locking of the stadium Niger Police spokesman, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, said the venue was sealed off to prevent “breach of security” based on credible intelligence at its disposal. “The Police had to take over the venue of the planned rally, as a proactive measure due to intelligence received of a likely breach of security at the venue. “Hence, we have to do the needful to avert any possible attack or hijack by suspected miscreants to cause mayhem and breach of peace in the community. “The Command will not fold its arms and allow acts of political violence, avoidable loss of life, destruction of properties and lawlessness.”
