US media outlet Bloomberg Friday tipped Labour Party candidate Peter Obi to win the 2023 presidential elections. In an opinion poll conducted with just two weeks to the election, Mr. Obi was the top choice for the job ahead of formidable opponents Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress and Peoples Democratic Party’s Atiku Abubakar The poll surveyed 2,384 Nigerians from January 26 to February 4 from the six geopolitical zones of the country. According to the poll results, among the decided voters, Obi scored 66%; Tinubu scored 18%, and Atiku scored 10%.
Meanwhile, for the undecided voters, Obi scored 47%; Tinubu scored 27%, and Atiku scored 9%. “Of the 93% of participants who said they’ve decided how to vote, 66% named Obi as their preferred choice,” Bloomberg said. Other polls have also given the edge to Mr. Obi, but it remained to be seen if this would translate to victory at the elections.
