The suspected murderers of Mr. and Mrs. Kehinde Fatinoye and their son have been sent to prison for 60 days by an Abeokuta Magistrate Court Ogun State pending the commencement of the trial. The trio of Lekan Adekanbi, Ahmed Odetola and Waheed Adeniyi conspired and murdered of Mr. and Mrs. Kehinde Fatinoye and their son, Oreoluwa on New Year’s Day, a crime that shocked the entire country. The suspects are facing an 11-count charge bordering on murder, conspiracy to commit a felony, arson, stealing, and escape from lawful authority, among others. During Wednesday’s hearing Chief Magistrate Esther Idowu ruled that the suspects be kept in prison for 60 days, pending legal advice from the Department of Public Prosecution (DPP).
Other suspects who allegedly bought the family’s car, Owolaja Anuoluwapo and Usman Azeez were also remanded in prison for 60 days.
Adekanbi, who was the family’s driver had confessed to the crime saying he and Odetola and Adeniyi hacked the couple to death after forcing them transfer N1.1m into his account. He claimed that the couple refused to give him a loan he requested, that was why he hatched a plan to rob them with his fellow accomplice.
