Former Super Falcons striker Patience Avre has called on the Nigeria Football Federation to sack coach Randy Waldrum following the spate of defeat suffered by the team ahead of the FIFA Women World Cup. Avre who played in the Women World Cup in 1995, 199, 2003 and the 2000 Olympics in Sydney Australia, argued that the main problem of the team was not a dearth of talents, but the incompetence of the technical crew led by the US-born coach who was hired by former NFF president Amaju Pinnick. “The girls are good, they can play, but the technical crew’s competence is nothing to write home about, Avre said during a chat PlusTV. “Randy has nothing to offer, what has he achieved with the Super Falcons since taking over? There are better coaches back home that can do a better job. How can we be losing to Mexico that has just started women football of recent? “The girls are just doing the same thing over and over again, because the coaches have nothing new to offer,”Avre who is based in the USA added. She called on the NFF to look inward and quickly correct the technical deficiency of the team before they head for the World Cup to be hosted by Australia and New Zealand in June. “We have Florence Omagbemi, Mercy Akide and Nkiru Okosieme who are coaching here in the United States why don’t we get them to coach the team? Those women worked for Nigeria and they know the team very well. “Omagbemi did well with team, why couldn’t the NFF allow her to continue…what happened “We also have this mentality that foreign coaches are better off than our own Nigerian coaches, but that is not the case.”
