Napoli and coach Luciano Spalletti’s romance will come to an end after the last game of the Serie A season against Sampdoria on June 4.
According to Corriere dello Sport the club will make the official announcement after Spalletti and Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis failed to agree on issues.
“If you are not convinced that you can give everything these people deserve, it’s right to think it over. You think it over, you arrive at a conclusion and then you stick with it,” said the Serie A winning coach after Napoli’s 3-1 win over Inter Milan last Sunday.
The 64-year-old Italian coach led Napoli to their first Serie A title in 33 years and also a quarter-final finish in the Champions League. But he did not have a good working relationship with De Laurentiis. Spalletti arrived in 2021 and has largely remained unsettled in Naples having to live in hotels and the training ground.
