Mainland Metro News | Finidi vows to take his Super Eagles place, slams Super 6 fixtures | All the news you need...

Former Super Eagles attacking midfielder Finidi George has dismissed insinuations that he is no longer part of the national team set up.
Finidi and goalkeeper trainer Ike Shorunmu were dropped from the team when they played the African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Guinea Bissau in what the Nigeria Football Federation claimed was a coach rotational policy. But ahead of the Super Eagles qualifier against Sierra Leone this month Finidi said he was heading back to the camp since he remains Super Eagles assistant coach.
“I’m still the first assistant to Jose Peseiro and will come next week,” Finidi said
“I think when the camp opens for the players I’ll be there if things don’t get twisted.
“But first thing first, let me finish this duty with Enyimba, and if things go well, I will be in camp.”
Meanwhile the UEFA Champions League winner with Ajax Amsterdam stated that the fixtures of the Nigeria Professional Football League are killing his players.
“When you play within 24 hours and all games at 2.pm…it’s energy sapping. “We have to work to get the boys back to fitness for the next games .”
Enyimba takes on Bendel Insurance Thursday and would face Sunshine on Friday, before tackling Rivers United Sunday which is the final day of the contest. That match will determine the winner of the Super Six.
