There are indications the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress will embark on a strike action to protest the arrest and beating of Joe Ajero by policemen while in Imo State on working visit.
TUC national vice president , Tommy Etim said Tuesday that both unions will meet any time from now to review the MOU signed between the unions and the Federal government on October 2 and also discussing the treatment meted out to the NLC president in Owerri.

“The modalities include the injustice meted upon comrade Ajaero, the planned strike and the MOU signed with the Federal Government. More details will be revealed after the meeting.”
The NLC and the TUC had last Friday given the Federal government a five-ultimatum ahead its planned protest against the arrest and brutalisation of Ajero. The protest is scheduled for Wednesday. They demanded the prosecution of governor Hope Uzordinma’s aid who masterminded the attack on Ajero and also the redeployment of the Imo State police commissioner.
The unions also threatened to embark on a nationwide strike if their demands were not met in five days.
