Nottingham Forest are concerned about the fitness of Taiwo Awoniyi, after he pulled out of Sunday’s World Cup clash against Zimbabwe.
Awoniyi is expected back in England to undergo checks after the Nigeria Football Federation posted on its X page that Awoniyi who played against Lesotho in their first game was down with a groin injury.
This is a concern for Steve Cooper who is hoping to have Awoniyi fit for their Premier League clash against Brighton next weekend and against Everton as they chase for points. Awoniyi who has scored four goals and provided two assists for Forest so far this season, only recently returned from the same groin injury. Super Eagles medics and those of Nottingham Forest have already discussed the player’s condition.
