Following the controversy generated by the Court of Appeal two-faced judgement on the Kano governorship dispute, there are fears violence might engulf the State.
The All Progressives Congress the main beneficiary of the judgement alleged Thursday that supporters of the New Nigeria Peoples Party were plaining to unleash mayhem on Saturday in protest of the judgment sacking Abba Yusuf as governor.
Also the Yoruba community in Kano called on President Bola Tinubu and other Yoruba leaders to act quickly and nip any form of violence in the bud.
According to APC Director General of Gawuna/Garo Campaign Organization, Rabiu Suleiman-Bichi, NNPP members have planned a violent protest and members of the APC are targets.
“We have it from reliable sources that they are planning a mass protest on Saturday during which key figures of the APC will be targeted, if possible to eliminate them,” Suleiman-Bichi said.
“It is on this note that we called the Kano state police command and other security agencies to be alive to their responsibilities and take appreciative measures to avoid loss of life and property.
“We are law-abiding citizens and will not do anything to disturb peace, but we will not hesitate to protect our lives and belongings.”
Speaking in another platform Yoruba Community in Kano Secretary-General, Taofeek Olaosebikan, said there was tension in the State and all efforts must be made to avoid bloodshed.
“We are using this platform to call on our leading Obas and leaders to come to our assistance by engaging President Bola Tinubu on the political situation in Kano.
“The average man already believes that the judiciary has been interfered with. We are calling on our fathers, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and the Oni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, to intervene without further delay.
“We are also calling on Oba of Lagos, Alake of Agba, Awujare of Ijebuland, Olubadan of Ibadan and other and other Yoruba leading lights to come to our aid as we won’t find it easy if the situation degenerates further as we actually expect it would.
“The people here will believe that they were cheated by a Yoruba President. That’s the word going around now. A stitch in time, they say saves nine.”
