Pockets of protests erupted in different parts of Kaduna Wednesday as residents registered their displeasure over the drone attack on Tudun Biri community Sunday night.
Also in Abuja protesters occupied the National Assembly Complex for about two hours calling on the defence minister and army chief of staff to resign their positions.
At the last count 120 people have been confirmed dead in the strike on civilians Sunday night as they gather to celebrate the birthday of Prophet Mohammed.
In Zaria protesters marched about the town with placards denouncing the action of the military, which took the community unaware. Though the Army had explained that it was an error and a collateral damage in their fight against terror, residents believed that the army could have been more professional and avoided the unnecessary deaths.
Miffed by the brute nature of the attack northern groups like the Arewa Consultative Forum, the Northern Elders Group and the Jama’tu Nasril Islam, have condemned the attack and want those responsible be held accountable.
Narrating the community’s ordeal in an interview with The PUNCH, 45-years-old Saudatu Alamagani, said: “The military started raining bombs on us.
“They bombed us twice, it all started around 10pm when the military started bombing our community. We were celebrating the Maulud, the birthday of Prophet Muhammad.
“While we were looking for motorcycles to convey those that critically needed medical attention to the hospital, the military returned with the bombardment. Many villagers including women, men, children, and even pregnant women were killed during the attack.
“Four members of my family were killed in the attack. Some of the bodies of the dead littered the ground.”
